Itinerary

 

Day 1

 

Arrival in Fukuoka

Arrive at Fukuoka Airport. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. Take time to freshen up and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.

 

Day 2

 

Explore the Bustling Fukuoka

Make your way through the biggest and busiest city in Kyushu. The magnificent city of Fukuoka has lots to offer from temples and shrines to beautiful parks to delightful Japanese dishes. First, drop by the celebrated Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. One of the most important shrines throughout Japan, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is popular among students to pray for good results during an examination. Then, cruise through the popular Yanagawa River and take in the tranquil atmosphere as you g​​et an insight into the​​ traditional Japanese culture. Go shopping at the popular Canal City Hakata shopping complex before heading to the ruins of Fukuoka Castle to learn more about history and the lovely Ohori Park to enjoy a leisure walk around the scenic park. Day 4

Journey to the scenic Takachiho, the legendary town associated with myths and legends. Listen to the fascinating stories from your knowledgeable guide as you make your way through the mystical Takachiho Gorge, a must-see attraction known for its spiritual energy and natural beauty, to enjoy one of the most beautiful scenic landscapes in Kyushu. Then, marvel at the fascinating flow of Manai Falls once you get inside the gorge and appreciate the beautiful water cascade falls over the gorge. See the Legendary Amano Iwato Shrine

Best known as the cave where the Sun Goddess Amaterasu hid herself, be amazed at the captivating natural beauty of the cave. Day 5

 

Take a Closer View of the Beautiful Mt. Aso

Head to the majestic Mt. Aso to see the most active volcano in Japan. A popular among the local and foreign travelers, Mt. Aso is not only the world’s largest caldera, but also considered as the most beautiful. Feel the natural power of the volcano as you take a closer view of Mt. Aso through the spectacular Nakadate Crater. Then, hop on a bus heading to Kusasenri, where you can see smoke coming out of the active Nakadate Crater, and enjoy the beautiful scenes along the way. Day 6

 

See the Phenomenal Hot Spring Hells of Beppu

Journey to the popular Hells of Beppu (Jigoku Meguri) and marvel at the spectacular hot springs featuring unique characteristics from colors to scenic views to hydrothermal activities. Although the hot springs are strictly for viewing rather than bathing, the remarkably popular Hells of Beppu is designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty. Afterwards, head to the Kannawa area to enjoy a naturally hot steamed dish for lunch. 

 

Visit the Sacred Yunohana-goya in Myoban Onsen

Continue with a short drive to Myoban Onsen where you can get a close look at how the all-natural hot spring mineral powders are made. See the traditional thatched huts used to make the hot spring mineral salts and check out the souvenir shop selling a variety of local specialty products, including beauty products. Do not miss out on the famous hot spring steamed pudding in the area.


Day 7

 

Enjoy the Breathtaking Scenic Views from Kokonoe Yume Otsuribashi

Feel the thrill as you walk across Kokonoe Yume Otsuribashi, one of the longest suspension bridges exclusively for pedestrians in Japan. Take in the breathtaking scenic landscapes which feature different forms of beauty each season. From the bridge, you can also see the eye-catching Shindonotaki Falls and the pristine Kyusuikei Natural Forest

 

See the Historic Nagasaki

Head to the picturesque port city of Nagasaki, a charming city perfectly highlighting both Japanese and Western cultures. As one of the cities in the world to experience a nuclear attack, visit the historical Nagasaki Peace Park and pay tribute to the victims of the second atomic bomb attack during the World War II. You will also get an insight into Japan’s foreign trade relations during the isolation period as you explore the notable Dejima District featuring the remnants of the former Dutch Trade Post. Day 8

 

Explore the Spectacular Kitakyushu

Take a trip to the northernmost city in Kyushu. As an important hub for international trade, Kitakyushu is full of historical monuments, appetizing dishes, and fun experiences. Enjoy a scrumptious seafood feast in Karato Market, walk across the unique Kanmon Underwater Pedestrian Tunnel, take in the nostalgic charm of ancient Japan as you explore the beautifully-preserved structures in Mojiko Retro, see the beautiful Kokura Castle to admire traditional architecture, and check out the incredible selection of fresh local produce and seafood in Tanga Ichiba Market. You can also get a chance to walk into the enchanting Flower Tunnel with beautiful wisteria trellis at Kawachi Wisteria Garden (seasonal).

 

Day 9

 

Depart from Fukuoka

Check out from the hotel after breakfast. With the help of the local guide, transfer to Fukuoka Airport for your journey back home.
